From time to time it happens… you’re on your way to your hotel after a long day of driving and something cool catches your eye. In our case, when it comes to sweet treats it happens a lot more than we like to mention, but it has happened again. We are in Atlanta staying in the Emory University area for the weekend. Near the university is a cute little area called Emory Village which is where we came across Ali’s Cookies.

Ali’s has been seen on Rachel and is known for having some of the best cookies in the Atlanta area. All of their cookies are baked fresh daily and made the old-fashioned way- from scratch. Yes, they literally use all of the best ingredients and hand-scoop their cookies just like mom used to do. A couple of things that set them apart from other bakeries are that they are certified Kosher and under the supervision of the AKC (Atlanta Kashruth or Kosher Commission), the other is their attitude. We have all been to or have seen a bakery that has phenomenal branding and charges a fortune. However, when you receive the end product it is disappointing or lackluster. Well, Ali’s Cookies takes pride in being a product-first kind of place. They focus on making delicious cookies and providing great service which makes for a fantastic customer experience.

Entering the shop is like entering a cookie lover’s paradise. As we’re walking in we are greeted with smiles. The shop’s setup isn’t really heavily themed but it’s nice with plenty of seating on the inside as well as some on the outside. The smell of cookie dough provides a wonderful aroma and adds to the delicious cookie build-up. The site of over 20 varieties of cookies lined up and waiting to be devoured is enough to drive any cookie lover over the top with joy. We’re here later in the evening and there are still rows and rows of cookies available for us to choose from. I don’t know if it is just a good day, but the service here is outstanding. I have said it before but my son is a very indecisive thirteen-year-old and I don’t know if the server was one of the owners or manager, but he was extremely patient and even playful while he waits for my son to order. This is the type of service that always makes you want to come back and makes sweets taste just that much better.

After letting about ten people go ahead of us while my son makes up his mind, we finally place our order. We decide to try the southern red velvet, the brownie, the mint chocolate chip, and the Cinnamon Toast Crunch. Ali’s also has an area off to the side where they sell day-old cookies for fifty percent off and I have to be honest after dealing with the traffic in Atlanta I feel like I deserve some of those too. Ali’s cookies are around three inches in diameter and weigh over 2.5 ounces. So you get quite the bang for your buck. Each cookie seems to have different types of textures. Some are crumbly and some, like the brownie, are exceptionally soft. My son loves his mint chip cookie it is more on the crunchy side which is perfect for him. The southern red velvet is somewhere in between soft and crumbly which is enjoyable as well. The Cinnamon Toast Crunch cookie is fantastic and I could eat 20 more easily. However, the star of the show at Ali’s is my daughter’s cookie cake slice. It is so good that we didn’t get a picture of it because she devoured it in seconds. I did, however, get to taste it and it is phenomenal.

I am super happy that we made the effort to stop by Ali’s. From the moment we walked in we received excellent service and a product to match. All of the cookies are big and flavorful, and each cookie provides something different for the cookie lovers out there. I have never had kosher cookies before and will say that these cookies are pretty darn good, to say the least. However, that cookie cake is a beast! If Ali’s just started making cookie cakes I wouldn’t complain! With all of that said, if you are in the Atlanta area and looking for something sweet to munch on I would definitely recommend trying one of their locations! From milkshakes to a vast variety of delectable cookies, they have you covered.
