You know that saying- everything is bigger in Texas? As a native Texan, I can confirm that there’s a lot of truth to that saying. While visiting Austin for the first time in forever, the topic of donut shops came up! So, when my sister said, “I have to take you to Round Rock Donuts so you can try their Texas-Size donut”, I was all for it. For those who have seen our donut trail videos or have read my blog about the Monster Apple Fritter at DG Donuts, you know I love finding mega-sized treats. However, I wonder if this beast of a donut’s taste will match up to its infamous size.

When it comes to donuts, I am an equal opportunity devourer but I must admit I came here primarily for the highlight of Round Rock Donuts- the famous Texas-sized donut. This gargantuan delight has become a symbol of the bakery and the town, attracting visitors from all over the state and beyond. Measuring a whopping 14 inches in diameter, this larger-than-life treat is perfect for sharing with friends and family or indulging in your sweetest dreams.
We, with emphasis on we, tried the half chocolate and half classic glazed Texas Sized donut, which was out of this world! Not only did the humongous donut live up to its size, but the taste of the donut matched the size as well! The orange dough of this donut is super soft and the glaze is amazing! If eating a donut almost the size of Texas isn’t in your plans for the day, Round Rock Donuts is sure to have a donut you’ll love.
Next, I decided to buy a classic strawberry sprinkles donut to add a little color to my size comparison photos, but little did I know that I was picking up one of the best strawberry donuts I have ever tasted. This donut was so soft, moist, and flavorful that I couldn’t believe it. Obviously, I’ve tried a lot of donuts but the strawberry icing is extremely rich and creamy and is like nothing I’ve ever tasted in the past. I will honestly say that so far this is the best strawberry donut I’ve had to date. I know that taste is subjective, but in my book, I have listed this donut as my possible all-time favorite strawberry sprinkles donut.
